Imagine the time and money lost if your business data had to be professionally recovered, because you didn't invest in a reliable backup plan...It's a sobering thought. Aztec Computers partners with EMC Retrospect, and is our preferred backup solution. Aztec Computers implements plans and procedures that allow data to be recovered quickly and efficiently. This could be a single email, a whole mailbox, a whole Exchange or SQL Server database, a single file, a folder of work, a whole drive or volume, an Active Directory Database, to the Whole system. If a solid backup plan is not in place, this process could take many more hours, possibly running into a whole day or so. Now the initial investment of a backup plan doesn't seem so expensive if your business cant trade for a whole day... EMC Retrospect is a very powerful backup software solution. EMC Retrospect will install on to Microsoft Servers running Small Business Server (SBS Premium or SBS Standard Editions), Windows Desktop Computers and Apple MAC's. There are various media types available, and EMC Retrospect supports backup to magnetic tape media such as the LTO and DAT standards, including support for Tape Libraries and auto changers, DVD, CD, Desktop Hard Drives or Network Storage Devices. This makes Retrospect very flexible and easy to use with the backup solution that fits in with your business needs and budget. Backup software can be complicated to use, or be too simple to fully protect your business data. Retrospect is very user friendly, with walk through wizards to help you setup the ideal backup plan. Retrospect also has advanced menus and a full suite of tools that work seamlessly with Tape Drives and a wide variety of Media types. If you don't feel brave enough to set the backup yourself, Aztec Computers can offer Remote Administration or on site support to setup the software to run the ideal backup for your business. This can include multiple backups, with various schedules, and once this is set, it can be left alone do run automatically. The hardware needed for EMC Retrospect to run your backup varies in price depending on the level of complexity required. For a simple backup, a DVD drive may be all that is required. Perhaps a couple of external Desktop Hard Drives would be ideal, they could be USB, Firewire, network or RAID drives. (Have a look at our LaCie pages). To get the best protection possible, perhaps a Tape Drive is needed so that daily incremental, weekly recycle and monthly snapshot backups take place, or you may have a requirement to store Terabytes of Backup or Archive data, in which case a combination of solutions may be best. Any hardware solution is an investment for your backup, but this must be weighed up against the cost of potentially loosing valuable databases and data and the downtime whilst a system is rebuilt, or professional Data Recovery is carried out. It is estimated that 1 in 3 businesses do not backup their most valuable asset...DATA. Don't let yours be on of the statistics!
